§ 56. Brigadier Medlicottasked the Minister of Agriculture if his attention has been drawn to the fact that a number of seaside resorts, particularly along the South Coast of England, are being inconvenienced by the increasing quantities of seaweed which are being deposited on the beaches; and if he will have investigations made to ascertain how far such seaweed has sufficient value for fertilising purposes to justify large-scale collections and distribution in agricultural areas.
§ Sir T. DugdaleThere has been an unusual quantity of seaweed deposited on some parts of the South Coast this year, but to collect it on any large scale would not be an economic proposition. An advisory leaflet dealing with the use of seaweed as a manure has been issued by my Department and I am sending my hon. and gallant Friend a copy.
