Mr. Fisher

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government the total amount of capital expenditure approved under the New Towns Acts in each of the 14 new towns in Great Britain at the nearest convenient date in respect of housing development, factory development and other activities of the development corporations, respectively.

NOTES
* Includes one project in each town for D.S.I.R.
Aycliffe:—Adequate factory space and employment already exists on the Trading Estate.
Corby:—Employment for men will mainly be provided in the existing steel industry. Employment for women is being provided.
Hatfield:—Male employment is available in existing industry. Provisions for female employment is being made.
Peterlee:—Provision in manufacturing industry is being made for the employment of women and men not engaged in mining.
Glenrothes:—In addition employment amounting to some 2,000 is being provided in the coalmining industry.
