HC Deb 25 November 1953 vol 521 cc35-6W
58. Sir J. Crowder

asked the Minister of Food if he is now in a position to make a statement about the implementation of the recommendations of the committee of inquiry into the slaughter of horses.

Major Lloyd George

The Government accept, with two minor modifications, the recommendations of the committee. My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Scotland and I are indebted to the hon. Member for Oldbury and Halesowen (Mr. Moyle) for bringing forward the Slaughter of Animals (Amendment) Bill to implement those recommendations and the Government intend to support and facilitate its passage through Parliament.
