§ 96. Sir L. Ropnerasked the Minister of Agriculture whether he is now in a position to make a further statement about the proposed scheme for securing a more extensive use of swine-fever crystal violet vaccine.
§ Sir T. DugdaleYes. A registered vaccinated herds scheme will be introduced on 15th December. It will enable pig breeders to have their pigs regularly vaccinated with crystal violet vaccine by veterinary surgeons at standard fees. Breeders participating in the scheme will be entitled to describe their stock as a "Registered vaccinated herd." The aim of the scheme is to produce a continuing large supply of pigs immunised against swine fever, and so greatly reduce the losses caused to pigkeepers by this disease. Particulars of the scheme will be in the hands of all veterinary surgeons likely to be interested, by the end of this month. Pig breeders should then ask their veterinary surgeons for details.
