Mr. Pryde

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland the total amount of money spent on land drainage schemes in Midlothian and Peeblesshire during 1952 and 1953.

During the financial year ended 31st March, 1953, 50 per cent. grant was paid on land drainage schemes costing £5,600 in Midlothian and £4,400 in Peeblesshire. The corresponding figures for this financial year, up to 31st October, are £4,200 and £2,600.
