HC Deb 16 November 1953 vol 520 cc128-9W
Sir G. Hutchinson

asked the Minister of Education whether she has considered resolutions passed by the Ilford Schoolmasters Association and which have been forwarded to her declaring that the Burn-ham proposals are inadequate and should be rejected, and urging the Minister to set up a Departmental Committee to investigate the question of the remuneration of teachers; and whether she is able to make a statement with regard to these resolutions.

Mr. A. Roberts

asked the Minister of Education if she is prepared to refer back to the Burnham Committee the recommendations on schoolmasters' salaries, which are considered inadequate.

Miss Horsbrugh

The Burnham Committee's recommendations have not yet been submitted to me, and I am therefore not in a position to make any statement on them.
