asked the Minister of Education why the number of warders at the Victoria and Albert Museum has increased from 116, in 1952–53, to 138 in 1953–54; and why there are four additional supervising warders II in 1953–54.

Mr. Lewis

asked the Minister of Education to publish in HANSARD a table of figures showing the total number of new schools commenced and completed in each of the years from 1945–53, in Holborn and St. Pancras, and details of the total capital amounts spent in each instance; and similar details for the parliamentary division of Holborn and St. Pancras, South.

Fourteen of the additional warders and the four supervising warders were required for the Wellington Museum at Apsley House which was opened in July, 1952. The other additional warders were required partly because of the need to strengthen warding arrangements at Ham House and partly because of the opening of newly-arranged galleries at the Victoria and Albert Museum.
