§ Mr. Boyd-CarpenterThe average salary of Treasury staff who carry out their duties exclusively in the House of Commons was£348 a year in 1946. In 57W the year ended 31st October, 1953, the average had increased by 35 per cent. This figure is calculated without reference to allowances paid in 1946 or 1953.
