HC Deb 11 November 1953 vol 520 cc40-1W
63. Mr. Callaghan

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation if he will make a statement on the results of the recent conference of Transport Ministers held in Brussels.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

A Protocol was signed by the representatives of the United Kingdom and 14 other countries establishing a European Conference of Ministers of Transport. This Protocol, which in the case of the U.K. and certain other countries is subject to ratification, will shortly be laid before Parliament as a White Paper.

The Conference is to consist of a Council of Ministers and a Committee of Deputies and its purposes will be to take measures to achieve the maximum use and the most rational development of European inland transport and to coordinate and promote the activities of international organisations concerned with European inland transport.
