asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government whether he will take steps to amend the London rate equalisation scheme.

Mr. Marples

This and kindred questions about equalisation grants have been investigated by a committee. My right hon. Friend awaits the final conclusions of the various associations, including the London authorities. The scheme suggested for London would, of course, need legislation.
