asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government when he proposes to issue a White Paper on equalisation grants.

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what steps he is taking to carry out the recommendations of the committee appointed by him to investigate the operation of the Exchequer equalisation grants in England and Wales.

Mr. Marples

The procedure is to consult the associations of local authorities and then lay a White Paper. My right hon. Friend has asked the associations to amplify the provisional conclusions of their Committees and he cannot at this stage give a date for the White Paper.
