§ Major Lloyd GeorgeDuring the week ended 5th September the meat ration was 2s. 4d. An additional 6d. worth was offered to butchers for sale off the ration. The amount of meat taken up by butchers exceeded the quantity needed to satisfy in full the ration requirements of their customers (including catering establishments and institutions), but they took on average only about 1½d. worth of the extra meat available for sale off the ration.
