asked the Minister of Education how many pupils were awaiting admission to special schools on the latest date for which figures are available; and how many of these pupils were educationally subnormal.

Returns received from local education authorities show that in December, 1952, there were 20,517 handicapped children awaiting vacancies in special schools, of whom 12,500 were educationally sub-normal.
