HC Deb 11 May 1953 vol 515 c61W
58 and 59. Mr. Swingler

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power (1) what action he has taken since he took office to deal with the problem of mining subsidence;

(2) if he will now bring forward legislation to extend the principles and scope of the Coal-Mining Subsidence Act, 1950.

Mr. Joynson-Hicks

Under the Coal-Mining (Subsidence) Act, 1950, my right hon. Friend has recently paid £100,000 to the National Coal Board, making a total of £600,000 since the Act was passed. He is not prepared at the present time to propose further legislation on this subject.
