HC Deb 11 May 1953 vol 515 cc62-3W
Mr. Benson

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many girls have been admitted to Borstal institutions for absconding from approved schools after having been committed as care or protection cases, distinguishing between those who absconded only and those who also committed offences, for 1951 and 1952.

Sir D. Maxwell Fyfe

In 1951, no such girls were sent to Borstal for absconding from approved schools, and three were sent to Borstal for offences committed while they were absconders. The corresponding figures for 1952 were, one and four, respectively.
