HC Deb 04 May 1953 vol 515 c3W
53. Sir A. Braithwaite

asked the Minister of Transport if his attention has been called to an official proposal to alter the D Ring Road in Middlesex and bring it through a new part of Harrow, which has caused serious depreciation in the value of property along this route: and if he will give any information why this scheme is to be carried through.

Mr. Braithwaite

My right hon. Friend has before him an application from the Middlesex County Council for his approval of the plans for a new road in Middlesex as part of the projected D Ring Road. The road is also a feature of the Middlesex Development Plan now under consideration by my right hon. Friend the Minister of Housing and Local Government, who has already caused a public local inquiry to be held to hear objections to that feature. My hon. Friend will appreciate that, until the statutory procedures have been concluded, it is not possible to say whether the scheme will, in fact, be carried through as now proposed.
