HC Deb 31 March 1953 vol 513 c128W
62. Mr. Wyatt

asked the Secretary of State for War why two guardsmen, members of the Welsh Guards' Training Battalion at Pirbright, are detailed to act as servants for the Lieutenant-Governor of Windsor Castle; what are their duties; and in what respect is the Lieutenant-Governor of Windsor Castle their superior officer.

Mr. J. R. H. Hutchison

Brigadier-General The Earl of Gowrie is Colonel of the Welsh Guards. It is in this capacity that he is provided with two volunteers from the Welsh Guards to act as his driver and his orderly. Their duties are the normal duties of an officer's driver and orderly. Lord Gowrie is their superior officer as Colonel of the Welsh Guards.
