§ Sir W. Darlingasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if, in view of the increasing demand for electricity in Scotland, he will take action to accelerate the work of the North of Scotland Hydro-Electric Board.
§ Mr. J. StuartThe North of Scotland Hydro-Electric Board are at present engaged on 13 constructional schemes which will have a total installed capacity of 286,800 kilowatts and an average annual output of 827 million units. The Board hope a start work on five more schemes in 1953, and they are carrying out preliminary work on 11 others. I am satisfied that the Board are pressing on with the provision of additional generating capacity, and with transmission and distribution schemes, as quickly as circumstances allow.
