HC Deb 24 March 1953 vol 513 c71W
75. Mr. Patrick Maitland

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make a statement on his discussions about land drainage with farmers' and landowners' associations and local authorities, and about new proposals to deal with the problems which have emerged from a review of his discussions.

Mr. J. Stuart

Possible lines of approach to this problem have been discussed with the associations to which my hon. Friend refers, and I am at present considering the position in the light of observations by the local authorities' associations. I propose to have further discussions with all the interests concerned. I cannot at this stage make a statement on the matters to be discussed.
