§ Mr. Grimondasked the Secretary of State for Scotland the amount expended by the Government on roads and on land drainage and under the Livestock Rearing Act, respectively, in the current year.
§ Mr. J. StuartThe amounts expended in Scotland out of the Department of Agriculture's Vote for the current year on roads was £61,000; on land drainage £249,000; and on schemes under the Hill Farming and Livestock Rearing Acts £245,000. The amount to be spent out of the Ministry of Transport's Vote in Scotland in 1952–53 on road maintenance and minor improvements will be £3,329,000, and it is estimated that expenditure on major road improvements will be £328,000.
