HC Deb 11 March 1953 vol 512 cc121-2W
60 and 61. Mr. Longden

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Defence (1) what steps are being taken to ensure that all members of Her Majesty's Forces are made aware of the basic principles and provisions of the North Atlantic Treaty and of the reasons why the Treaty is necessary, together with the period of compulsory military service and rearmament which it involves; and to give them the necessary knowledge and appreciation of their comrades of other nations who are their partners in the North Atlantic Alliance;

(2) what literature is provided, and by whom, which has as its object the provision to Her Majesty's Forces of factual information about the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation, its State Members and the challenge of Russian policy and action to the principles which it exists to defend.

Kingdom under the new contract just agreed with the Danish Government; and how this compares with the price being paid by him to British egg producers for comparable grades.

Dr. Hill

It would be contrary to practice to disclose the prices paid to individual overseas suppliers.
