HC Deb 11 March 1953 vol 512 c126W
72. Mr. Parker

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what measures are being taken by the Fijian Government to reduce infant mortality among the Fijians; and how far provision exists for the supply of tinned milk during the process of weaning.

Mr. Lyttelton

There is a comprehensive infant welfare service available to Fijian mothers throughout the Colony and the advisory services of a fully qualified nutritionist are also provided. Milk substitutes are distributed to supplement indigenous foodstuffs suitable for use during weaning.
