§ Mr. Wheatleyasked the Secretary of State for Scotland the estimated increased payments by Edinburgh Corporation on interest charges on loans in connection with the erection of new schools during 1952 and 1953 as a result of the increase in the interest rate on public works loans; and what these figures represent in terms of increased local rates.
§ Mr. J. StuartI do not feel justified in asking the Corporation to undertake the work necessary to provide the figures asked for, but I am satisfied that any such increased payments can have no appreciable effect on the rates.
