HC Deb 10 March 1953 vol 512 cc107-8W
113. Mr. Hale

asked the Minister of Pensions whether he will state the number of A.C. invalid carriages which have been supplied to date; what is the estimated average cost; what have been the total costs involved in maintenance and replacement of carburettors; and what is his present policy with regard to the continued supply of these machines.

Mr. Amory

Three thousand A.C. tricycles have been supplied. As regards the second part of the Question, it is contrary to established practice to disclose prices under Government contracts. It is estimated that since July, 1950, the cost to my Department for running repairs has been approximately £54,000 and that the cost of replacement of carburettors will be about £15,000. No new A.C. tricycles will be supplied but those in use will be maintained while they are likely to give good service.
