HC Deb 09 March 1953 vol 512 cc87-8W
80. Mr. Alport

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power whether he is aware that the glass-house section of the horticultural industry in Essex has not received its full allocation of anthracite during the present winter period, and that the delays in the arrival of such quantities as are supplied have caused hardship to growers; and what steps he proposes to take to improve this position.

Mr. Joynson-Hicks

I am making inquiries and will write to my hon. Friend. But I can say at once that ample supplies of coke are available which some glass-house owners may find it possible to use in place of anthracite.
