HC Deb 09 March 1953 vol 512 cc89-90W
84. Air Commodore Harvey

asked the President of the Board of Trade why trading with bananas from Brazil, in exchange for British motor-cars, is not allowed by his Department.

Mr. Mackeson

Since the end of 1951 my right hon. Friend the Minister of Food has bought no bananas from Brazil. The question of allowing such trade in exchange for exports of motor-cars has, therefore, not arisen.
