HC Deb 03 March 1953 vol 512 c29W
79. Mr. Chetwynd

asked the Minister of Pensions what percentage of applications per pension is granted; what percentage is heard by the appeal tribunal; and what percentage of these is approved.

Mr. Amory

Seventy-two per cent. of the applications for pension in respect of service after 2nd September, 1939, numbering over 1¼ million, have been allowed by my Department; appeals have been made to the pensions appeal tribunals against 25 per cent. of the rejections and just under 25 per cent. of these appeals have been allowed. The total of allowed applications is therefore nearly 74 per cent.
