HC Deb 29 June 1953 vol 517 c3W
37. Mr. McAdden

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what restrictions were recently placed on the entry of British newspaper correspondents to Nepal; and what representations on this subject were made to the Nepalese Government by Her Majesty's Ambassador.

Mr. Nutting

So far as I am aware, no special restrictions have recently been imposed on the entry of British newspaper correspondents into Nepal. I understand that a number of British journalists were given visas between April and June of this year to cover the Everest expedition after representations had been made by Her Majesty's Ambassador.

38. Mr. McAdden

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what representations, with regard to the Press censorship in Nepal, have been made by Her Majesty's Ambassador.

Mr. Nutting

I am not aware of any recent Press censorship in Nepal, and no representations on the subject have been made.
