HC Deb 25 June 1953 vol 516 c175W
Mr. Nabarro

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power what progress is being made in the suppression of dust in mines by the installation of water devices; and how far this is being retarded by lack of steel water pipes.

Mr. Geoffrey Lloyd

The National Coal Board have made and are continuing to make substantial progress in the introduction of water and other devices for suppressing dust and I am advised that progress is not being hampered by shortage of steel water pipes. The position is kept under review by the National Joint Pneumoconiosis Committee, on which all the interests concerned are represented, under the Chairmanship of my hon. Friend the Parliamentary Secretary.
