§ Mr. Lewisasked the Minister of Labour to publish in HANSARD a table of figures showing the number of unemployed for each month in the years 1945 to May, 1953, for the constituency of Abingdon and the county of Berkshire, respectively.
§ Sir W. MoncktonIt is not possible to undertake the very large amount of work that would be involved in extracting the monthly figures for every year since 1945, and I hope, therefore, that the following table giving quarterly figures for employment exchanges in the Abingdon Parliamentary Division and the figures for May of each year for all employent exchanges in Berkshire will suffice.
Numbers of unemployed persons on the registers of (a) employment exchanges in the Abingdon Parliamentary Division and (b) all employment exchanges in Berkshire at the undermentioned dates:
baths are now in operation; how many are under construction; and flor how many men in the industry such pit-head baths are now available.
