§ 33. Mr. N. Macphersonasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies the estimated strength of the Communist terrorists operating on the Malayan-Siamese border; what are their activities; and what action has been taken, in conjunction with the Siamese Government, to deal with them.
§ Mr. LytteltonThe number of these terrorists is estimated at 380. They are used by the enemy mainly as a reserve. They make occasional forays into Malayan territory, and stage road and rail ambushes: they also spread Communist propaganda among the frontier population. Joint military and police operations against them have been concerted with the Siamese police and the two police forces have made special arrangements to improve this collaboration.
