Mr. Hobson

asked the Assistant Postmaster-General the average speed of answer after 7 p.m. at the Streatham, Willesden and Enterprise exchanges in the London telephone area; and on what date the last snap timing check was made.

The average speeds of answer during the evening at Streatham and Willesden exchanges for the month of May were 8.0 seconds and 11.1 seconds.

For Bowes Park, which serves Enterprise subscribers, the average speed of answer for April (the latest figure available) was 12.5 seconds; a few snap checks made on the nights of 8th and 9th June gave averages of 66 seconds and 3.2 seconds.
