HC Deb 09 June 1953 vol 516 c8W
75. Sir R. Grimston

asked the Assistant Postmaster-General whether, before granting the British Broadcasting Corporation the extra £2 million of licence revenue for which the Corporation is now asking, he will ask the Corporation to consider what economies could be made if their three Home, Light and Third sound Programmes were telescoped into two programmes.

Mr. Gammans

The Government are not contemplating any immediate change in the amount of net licence revenue received by the B.B.C. It has not been the practice for the Government to interfere with the B.B.C. as to the manner in which their income is spent.
