HC Deb 30 July 1953 vol 518 cc179-80W
45. Mr. Wyatt

asked the Prime Minister whether he will instruct the British delegation at the forthcoming meeting of the United Nations Assembly to propose that the resolution of the United Nations which required member nations to restrict their trade with China be now rescinded.

Mr. R. A. Butler

I have nothing to add to what I said on this subject in the debate on foreign affairs on 21st July and to the statements of my right hon. and learned Friend the Minister of State.

49. Mr. Beswick

asked the Prime Minister if the common policy towards China agreed by the three Powers, and to which reference was made in the Washington communiqué, included the possibility of discussion at the Korean political conference of possible Chinese membership of the United Nations.

Mr. R. A. Butler

I would ask the hon. Member to await the statement I am making in the debate later this afternoon.
