asked the Minister of Agriculture the average f.o.r. prices over the last three years, of peeled soft wood home-grown pit-props.

I regret it is not possible to give figures for three years since there was no national agreement before 1st January, 1952, in England and Wales. The information available is as follows:

Average prices for peeled and seasoned props England and Wales

From 1st January, 1952:

6s. per cubic foot, f.o.r. for all sizes.

From 1st January, 1953:

5s. 3d. per cubic foot f.o.r. for 2½-4 in. top diameter.

5s. 4½d. per cubic foot f.o.r. for 4½ in. top diameter and up.

From 1st July, 1953:

4s. 9d. per cubic foot f.o.r. for 2½-4 in. top diameter.

5s. per cubic foot f.o.r. for 4½ in. top diameter and up.

Note: As from 1st January, 1953, the prices quoted are subject to the consignor bearing all freight charges in excess of 35s. per ton.
