§ Sir T. DugdaleFarmers in Cornwall applied about 186,000 tons of liming materials in the last twelve months. Comparative figures for 1951–52 and 1950–51 were 179,000 tons and 207,000 tons. The increase over last year was 5 per cent. as compared with 15 per cent. for the United Kingdom.

§ Sir T. DugdaleThe only statistics available are those of the number of calves on farms at census dates and these do not indicate how many are being reared. The provisional results of the June, 1953, census show that there were 61,000 calves on farms in Cornwall. Corresponding figures for 1950, 1951 and 1952 were 65,600, 57,200 and 54,700 respectively.
