asked the Minister of Transport if he will now make a statement on the fitting of efficient brakes on bicycles.

As my right hon. Friend stated in the debate on Tuesday last, he has decided to issue a regulation making the carriage of two efficient brakes compulsory on all pedal bicycles and tricycles, whether old or new. The regulation is being drafted and will be forwarded to representative bodies for their comments in the usual way as soon as possible.
