HC Deb 29 July 1953 vol 518 c155W
76. Mr. Driberg

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he is aware of further incidents on 15th and 16th July, 1953, in which stones were thrown at Mr. Samuel Heap, a Protestant missionary, and his house in Chiquinquirá, Boyacá, Colombia; what steps he is taking to protect the lives of this British subject and his family; and what were the results of his previous representations to the Colombian Government.

Mr. Nutting

Yes. These incidents were reported to Her Majesty's Ambassador, who made immediate representations to the Colombian Government on 17th of July. The Colombian Government at once instructed the Governor of the department of Boyacá to arrange special protection for Mr. Heap and his family and to furnish a report on the incident. The report on the earlier incident in which Mr. Heap was involved has not yet been received, but the Colombian Government have stated that they expect it to be ready within the next few days.
