HC Deb 28 July 1953 vol 518 cc115-6W
56. Mr. Blenkinsop

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government whether he is aware of the proposal to build a school on the Morfa just below Harlech Castle in the forefront of one of the most famous views in Great Britain; and, as it is in the national interest not to build there but to find an alternative site, whether he will take steps to see that the proposal is considered at the highest level.

Mr. Marples

My right hon. Friend is aware of this proposal. He understands that planning consent has been given to it, with the approval of the Snowdonia Park Joint Advisory Committee. A compulsory purchase order for the land has been made by the local education authority and submitted to my right hon. Friend the Minister of Education. The Minister will consult with my right hon. Friend before reaching a decision on the order.
