asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many school places were provided for the children under Lanarkshire education authority in June, 1951. June, 1952. and June, 1953.

Twenty places were provided in June, 1951, and none in June, 1952, or June, 1953. But in the years ended 30th June, 1951, 1952 and 1953 the numbers of new places provided were 730, 1,310 and 1,550.

The daily average number of midday meals served in June to pupils in Lanarkshire was 32,154, 34,986 and 27,742 in 1951. 1952. and 1953, respectively.
