HC Deb 28 July 1953 vol 518 cc123-4W
87 and 88. Mr. Malcolm MacPherson

asked the Minister of Labour (1) what estimate he has made of the average number of foundry workers in the Falkirk—Bonnybridge district likely to be redundant over the next 12 months;

(2) what estimate he has made of the probable permanent decrease, as a result of the recent changes in the industry, in the number of foundry workers employed in the Falkirk—Bonnybridge district.

Mr. Watkinson

I am afraid it is not possible to make these estimates. The future level of employment in the industry will depend on the volume of orders received and on the ability of the individual firms to adjust themselves to changes in the markets for their products.
