§ Mr. Peter Freemanasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will increase the maximum amount allowed for annuity that may be purchased from the Post Office from the present figure of £300, in view of the increased cost of living since this amount was first fixed.
§ Mr. Boyd-CarpenterGovernment annuities in excess of £300 per annum can be purchased from the National Debt Office and, so far as I am aware, there is no general demand for an increase in the Post Office limit. Any such change would, of course, require legislation.
