HC Deb 15 July 1953 vol 517 cc162-3W
13. Mr. R. Robinson

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what are the surplus British Government properties in Bermuda which have been offered for sale to the Government of Bermuda; at what price they have been offered; and what conditions have been imposed in the offer for sale.

Mr. Lyttelton

They are lands and buildings no longer required by the Service Departments and include a dockyard, military barracks, a hospital and a considerable number of houses. An offer by the Bermuda Government of £750,000 is now under consideration.

They have also offered to relieve the Service Departments of certain repair and maintenance costs and to review the possibility of a further payment if the properties become more profitable than they at present expect.
