HC Deb 02 July 1953 vol 517 c45W
Sir A. Bossom

asked the Minister of Agriculture if, in the future, he will start consideration of the Annual Price Review earlier so that its publication can be in time to enable the farmers to know the position before the general planting season commences.

Sir T. Dugdale

No. The crop prices fixed after an Annual Review do not relate to the harvest immediately following the Review but to the one gathered in the following year. The present arrangements, therefore, give farmers notice of crop prices several months in advance of planting for autumn sown crops and about a year in advance of planting for spring sown crops.
