HC Deb 20 January 1953 vol 510 cc7-8W
66. Mr. Langford-Holt

asked the Minister of Works what permanent site is intended for the statue of General Gordon removed from Trafalgar Square.

Mr. Eccles

The statue will be re-erected in the public garden which is to be laid out between the new Government offices in Whitehall and the Victoria Embankment. I had hoped to have done this before the Coronation, but as the site will now be needed for a stand, the work has had to be postponed.
