HC Deb 24 February 1953 vol 511 c205W
74. Mr. Hector Hughes

asked the Minister of Labour how many disabled persons are registered in the city of Aberdeen as unemployed; how many such persons have the advantage of Remploy facilities there; and whether he is satisfied that such Remploy facilities are sufficient for the needs of the city.

Mr. Watkinson

At 19th January, 1953, there were 674 unemployed registered disabled persons in Aberdeen, of whom 51 were severely disabled persons eligible for consideration for sheltered employment. Thirty-four persons are employed in the Remploy factory and this figure will be increased to the full capacity of 50 when machinery now on order is installed.
