HC Deb 17 February 1953 vol 511 cc110-1W
72. Mr. Swingler

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what are his regulations concerning the inspection by local authorities of houses being built under private licence while they are in course of construction.

Mr. Marples

My right hon. Friend has made no regulations on this matter but I am sending the hon. Member a copy of Circular 93/52 in which he will find a recommendation that the amount of supervision exercised should be equivalent to that laid down in the scheme operated by the National House Builders Registration Council. Apart from this. local authorities have a statutory duty to see that local building bye-laws are complied with and normally make at least four inspections for this purpose.
