asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what subsidies were paid in the last financial year to coastal shipping and agriculture, with comparable figures for the previous three financial years.

Agricultural subsidies during the last four financial years were:

£41,227,000	£43,343,000	£37,486,000	£28,867,000

Note.—These figures include the crop acreage payments which were discontinued in 1951–52, and the bonuses paid under the Attested Herds Scheme which was revived in 1950–51.
