HC Deb 10 February 1953 vol 511 c15W
23. Mr. Rankin

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if his attention has been called to the prescription issued to a National Health patient costing £93, details of which have been given him and what is the therapeutic value of this prescription.

Mr. J. Stuart

Yes. I understand that the therapeutic value of the preparation in question is open to doubt. The case has been referred to the Executive Council for consideration whether, in terms of the Regulations, the cost involved was in excess of what was reasonably necessary for the adequate treatment of the patient.
