HC Deb 09 February 1953 vol 511 c2W
Mr. Willey

asked the Minister of Food the total amounts of beef and the amounts, respectively, of ration quality and of manufacturing quality beef, imported in each of the years 1950, 1951 and 1952; and what reasons caused the fall in beef imports in 1952.

Major Lloyd George

The following table shows the total quantities of beef which, according to the records of my Department, were imported during the years 1950, 1951 and 1952. It also shows how these quantities were divided between ration and manufacturing qualities. The fall in beef imports in 1952 as compared with 1951 was almost entirely due to reduced shipments from Australia and Uruguay.

- 1950 1951 1952
Ration Quality 230,323 102,143 93,615
